Intro ‘n’ stuff

What is iNSANE iDEA?

iNSANE iDEA is the name of this page and this whole thing is what it sounds like: an insane idea. My insane idea. The story has started in 2004 or something, during my university years. Back at that time there was an initiative here in Hungary for creating a magazine entirely dedicated to die-hard programmers. It’s name was CodeX. I was one of the regular editors of CodeX (which at that time was published in a bundle together with PC World) running an article series about OpenGL, in Hungarian. The series looked to be successful and i was happy as hell, but then the whole CodeX idea went down the drain – i guess it was too radical: it had nothing to do with gaming and other popular topics and back at that time programming was a geek thing and most geeks already used the Internet instead of reading stuff written to paper 🙂 Together with CodeX my possible career of a journalist (or something) also went down the drain and i was quite sad…

… and then, one day, i had this insane idea: let’s dedicate a page to my articles instead of giving up on them! And so, iNSANE iDEA was born (called by the crappy name “Maniac online” by then). Yeah, some time had to pass till i realized that the page’s name sucks and i ended up with iNSANE iDEA – around 2008, i think.

During the years, some other things happened to me (for example I’ve started working in the Siemens Empire as i call it) and slowly i realized that OpenGL and game development won’t be my main area of interest forever, but instead, they’ll stay something like a hobby. Therefore, with time, iNSANE iDEA (or iNi for short), became my personal blog.

For a short time in 2009, the site was running in english – simply because i wanted my tutorials to reach a larger audience, however i gave up on this attempt, simply because i realized that while in Hungary my page is considered rare and somewhat special, out in the big WWW it was just one of the hundred of 3D-related tutorial sites. Hence, i restored it to its original language with the intention of turning it into THE Hungarian OpenGL site…

As of 2017.03, the site once again, is back to english – this time for good. There’s a blog post explaining this…

And then, here we go, back to blogging… 😉

Who am I?

Well, I’m your friendly neighborhood programmer born in 1982, in a small Hungarian town called Kiskunhalas, later on moved to Szeged. Even though I’ve spent almost fifteen years in the IT industry (yes, started to work full-time when i was 20), i don’t really consider myself a veteran or something. I’m a die hard coder who considers programming as a playground of fun problems to be solved, rather than a serious, boring job. This attitude helped me through some serious situations during my years, but that’s another story i guess 🙂 At the moment of writing this, i consider myself a backend specialist (yes, I’ve fallen quite for from OpenGL in the last 10+ years), but in general, i like to experiment with everything else IT-related…

What the …

A die hard coder's blog about basically anything slightly related to programming, gaming, IT, etc. Stuff I've experienced, opinions and rants, written in mostly a caffeine-happy state of mind. Oh, and some articles too...
